Freeby Parish lies about 3.5 miles (6 km) east of Melton Mowbray.  The Parish consists of five villages which are Freeby, Saxby, Stapleford, Wyfordby and Brentingby, which with the exception of Brentingby, were all mentioned in the Domesday Book.
